Major Capital Project - Managed consulting team charged with system design, project planning, procurement estimating and construction of sophisticated business systems on a large mining Project.
Dirt Construction Site
  • Developed detailed plan with internal and external stakeholders to reconfigure information systems for new data, personnel and systems within tight timeframes and budget. Successfully established entire IT systems with no downtime seamlessly.

  • Drafted comprehensive strategy document ratified by new management and board of directors outlining direction and actions required for an efficient IT system for next 10 years. Commenced implementation of plan almost immediately.

  • Overcame multiple barriers including limited resources, time constraints and shipment of critical equipment from overseas in establishing a complete IT environment for the construction of a $4B resources project. System went live with 50 users within 8 weeks, passing all security and governance features.

  • Produced ICT section of feasibility study document for the construction of a coal terminal in conjunction with external consultants.  Feasibility study was completed within 8 weeks successfully securing $2B funding.

  • Reviewed IT infrastructure and evaluated alternative solutions to address high IT costs. Proposed alternative technology, improved licensing control and standardised user environment resulting in cost savings of $200K per annum.

 

Global Travel Group - Manage the review, re-design and implementation of QA framework and customer experience for national online customer support business.

  • Identified systematic, data related and business processes causing unacceptable plant failures in collaboration with maintenance management. Implemented new maintenance plan improving uptime by 11% to 92% within 18 months.

  • Conducted review of inventory stock holdings to resolve issues hampering maintenance activities. Reduced out of stock statistic and identified $350K overstock and obsolete items for sale.

  • Lead process mapping exercise with Accounts Payable staff to identify processing delays. Slashed workload 50% enabling staff redeployment to more productive areas of the business.

  • Rectified existing issues with Enterprise System that led to propagation of ad-hoc spreadsheets, doubling of data and misinformation. Designed and built a reporting system capable of retrieving data from multiple sources resulting in improved decision-making.

  • Overcame entrenched behaviours and work culture that was reluctant to change by engaging resistant individuals in discussions. Successfully gained acceptance from entire group to implement new business systems and processes.

Shipping Facility - Challenges included managing a series of projects, implementing multiple systems across the organisation and re-engineering inefficient business processes.
New York Sea Port
  • Wrote specifications and managed the development of a purpose built reporting system that enabled near real-time reporting whilst halving the number of staff required to capture and report on the loading and unloading processes.

  • Facilitated the maintenance department in overcoming implementation delays of a new enterprise system. Prioritised workload, eliminated unnecessary activities and engaged additional resources to successfully go live on time.

  • Evaluated and recommended changes to improve efficiency of the organisation’s document management system and processes. Resolved fundamental setting errors to improve usage within the organisation.
